The Brecksville-Broadview Heights boys basketball team has shown improvement throughout the 2025–2026 season. For the Bees, the season has been about more than just wins and losses. With hard work, strong chemistry, and victories, the team has continued to grow as they advance in the playoffs.
The Bees have spent the winter playing in regular season games and preparing for the playoffs. Players say their development has come from intense practices, strong coaching, and a “there is no I in team” mentality. According to team schedules and results posted on MaxPreps, the program has stayed competitive through the year while building a strong team for the playoffs.
Sophomore Anderson Batcheller believes the team’s effort has been a big reason for their success. “I think our season has been great,” Batcheller said. “We work really hard in practice and it’s showing in our games.”
Team chemistry has also played a major role in the team’s improvement during the season. Players have emphasized supporting each other and playing as a unit in every game. “Our team chemistry is awesome,” Batcheller said. “Everyone plays for each other, and we all get along well together.”
One of the most memorable moments of the season came during winter break in late December when the team traveled to Florida for a tournament.. Senior Steven Skaljac said the trip helped the team bond both on and off the court. “My favorite memory was probably going down to Florida for winter break with the team and winning the championship down there,” he said. The trip was also a chance for the team to relax and spend time together outside of basketball.
Rivalry games have also created excitement for this season. One of the team’s favorite games was against North Royalton. The Bees started strong to secure an important victory early in the year, and the score ended up to be 51-47. “My favorite game was the first game against North Royalton because it is a rivalry game,” Skaljac said. “We started off amazing and won in the end.”
As the playoffs approach, players know the competition will get tougher, but they remain confident in their preparation. Skaljac said the possibility of facing North Royalton again in the postseason would bring extra motivation. “I am super hype because if we win we would be 3–0 against them this year,” Skaljac said. “And if we win it would be the first time Brecksville has ever gone to the Final Four.”
For the Bees, the season has been about more than just wins and losses. Players say the experience of working together and improving each day has been the most rewarding part. “To me teamwork means everyone working together and making each other better every day,” Batcheller said.
As the season continues, the BBHHS boys basketball team hopes their hard work and determination will carry them deep into the playoffs.
