As I get closer to the end of high school, I’m realizing it’s really just a small part of 18 years of life. It felt like a big deal while I was in it, but now it just feels like one chapter in everything that’s been building since I was a kid.
Over time, I’ve slowly figured more things out about myself. How I think, what I care about, and what I want to put energy into. At the same time, I can see how a lot of that has been shaped way before high school too. It didn’t all start here.
If I could give advice to incoming freshmen, it would be to not overthink everything so much. Just start doing things. School, goals, random interests, whatever it is, you don’t need to feel fully ready first.
I’d also say to take your time seriously, even in simple ways. What you do daily adds up way more than any big moment ever will.
And lastly, don’t ignore the normal parts of life while you’re in them. Those are usually the things you end up remembering the most without even trying.
Good luck and make the most out of the coming years!
