On January 11 at 8pm, Hollywood actors and actresses attend the 83rd annual Golden Globes. Hosted by Nikki Glaser, The Golden Globes offer comical jokes by the host while displaying fan favorite actors and actresses who may win awards.
Nikki Glaser, Comedian and actor, has now hosted the Golden Globes twice. Each year, she’s a fan favorite.
With jokes that get the entire audience to laugh, but not offend the intended target of the joke. In one of her fun jokes of the night she says, “Leo, I’m sorry, I made that joke. It’s cheap. I tried not to, but, like we don’t know anything else about you, man. There’s nothing else. Open up! I’m serious! I looked! I searched! The most in-depth interview you’ve ever given was in Teen Beat magazine in 1991.”
Not only did Nikki Glaser have a very productive night, but young actor Owen Cooper, who is starring in “Adolescence”, had an amazing night. Not only did he win a Golden Globe, but he also set the record for the youngest person to win a Golden Globe at just 16-years-old. Along with that, he met all his favorite celebrities and updated his Instagram story regularly throughout the night.
The Golden Globes have come a long way from where they started. In 1944, the Hollywood Foreign
Correspondents Association presented the first Golden Globes ceremony. The first Golden Globes was a small event and only had 5 categories: Best Motion Picture, Best Actor and Actress, Best Supporting Actor and Actress. Each winner received a scroll. Later on in June of 2023, the HFCA sold the Golden Globes to DCP (Dick Clark Productions). They now own all assets, rights, and properties from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.
The Golden Globes now has 28 categories. This includes 15 categories in film (Best Picture, Director’s screenplay, Etc), along with 12 Categories of Television (Best series, Performance in a Series, Etc). This year, they have added a new category being the best podcast.
The Golden Globes have come a long way since 1944 and will continue to grow as the years go on. Thanks to the DCP, Actors And Actress, along with Producers get to be recognized for their hard work and dedication.
