Have you ever wanted to travel to Italy? An amazing opportunity to see the rich culture of Italy on a 12-day trip to cities Venice, Florence, Rome, and Naples is right here at BBHHS. In 2025, students from our school will embark on an exciting journey to Italy, a trip that promises to be both educational and transformative. This opportunity, organized in collaboration with EF Tours, aims to immerse students in the rich history and vibrant culture of Italy.
Callie Pausche (Junior) and Haylie Martin (Junior), two enthusiastic students who went on the Costa Rica Trip also hosted by BBHHS and who are gearing up for the Italy trip, shared their thoughts on what they’re most looking forward to: “We are most excited to see the art and history and try authentic Italian food.” They emphasize the importance of traveling abroad, noting, “It’s important to travel abroad and see new places because you can experience what it’s like to live somewhere else, which can help change your perspective on life.”
Dawn Ferrante, a math teacher at BBHHS and the trip’s organizer, expresses her passion for helping students explore the world. “I’ve never been a huge traveler, but lately I’ve just seen how cool other places are and I appreciate all of it,” she says. She believes that this trip will provide a unique view into the lifestyles of others, stating, “I think it’s just awesome to get a glimpse of how other people live.”
Ferrante has successfully signed up 15 students and is eager to recruit at least five more for a private tour experience. “It’s nice to explore a new country with the people from our school,” she explains. With 20 students, participants can have their own bus and enjoy a more personalized experience of Italy.
As they prepare for the trip, students will not only enjoy delicious food—“gelato every day, and pizza every day”—but also delve into the historical marvels of Italy.
Ferrante points out, “We’re not going to do math in Italy, but they [students] are going to see lots of history. It’s such an old country, so just knowing that happened so long ago is a cool thing.” The opportunity to witness historical sites firsthand provides a unique learning experience that cannot be replicated in the classroom.
As the trip approaches, excitement is increasing. Pausche and Martin sum it up perfectly: “Doing a trip like this is a great way to make friends and memories that last a lifetime.” For students considering the opportunity, they wholeheartedly recommend going: “If you can, you should definitely experience it because I think it’s just going to be fun.”
This upcoming trip to Italy promises to be not just a vacation, but a journey of discovery and growth for all involved. As the students prepare to explore Italy’s art, history, and culture, they’re sure to return with new perspectives and unforgettable memories.
