Get ready to roll up your sleeves, bees! BBHHS is having another blood drive on Friday, January 17 in the auxiliary gym from 7:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. By donating blood, you’re not only showing off your superhuman ability to save lives, but you’re also joining a team of people who make a real impact in our communities. Think about it: in just an hour, you could help save up to three lives—how cool is that?
Go to the American Red Cross website to pre-register; it will save a lot of time. Be sure to drink a lot of water before donating; it will help the process go smoothly and you should feel better too because you are hydrated. For more details, check out the flyers posted around the school or visit Mr. DiFrancesco in room 236. There will be snacks and gift cards for those that donate.
According to the American Red Cross, hospitals across the United States use approximately 29,000 units of blood every single day. That’s around 14,500 liters of blood. Blood is essential for various medical treatments, from emergency surgeries and trauma care to cancer treatments. However, despite the constant demand, there is often insufficient supply to meet the need. Blood has a limited shelf life, typically only lasting 42 days for red blood cells, and the demand can fluctuate greatly, especially during times of crisis like natural disasters, accidents, or seasonal illnesses.
Sign up today and help those that are need!
