The Bees winter sports are buzzing! Girls basketball has tipped off their season with a 5-0 start; the boys basketball team has started their season off 2-0. The wrestling team has begun their season in the hardest tournament in the country and the gymnastics team is trying to tumble toward another State title. Last, but not least, the swimmers are kicking it with 2-0 start.
The girls basketball team is improving everyday and looking forward to playing against North Royalton this season. Captain, Bridget Barber says, “Our season is starting off extremely well and our game is improving daily. We play at a faster tempo than other teams and have a good amount of depth throughout our bench.”
The wrestlers have been giving it their all and are not disappointing anyone! Senior and Brown signee, Riley McPherson, says, “We had some success with 2 place winners. EJ German placed eighth and I placed fifth. I am super excited with my results, and I think everyone is looking forward to the rest of the season.”
The wrestler’s goal for this season is getting a trophy at state duals (Top 2).
The gymnasts have also flipped off their season this week with their first meet. “There’s always pressure when the season starts because of the 21 year streak. It’s our motivation to do better every year,” says senior Iza Parrish.
In their meet this week they won all around against Nordonia, Aurora, Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin, Padua, and Revere. They take pride in supporting each other all the time and at practice, they always push each other to do their best. “During meets it’s noticeable that we are the loudest team when it comes to cheering on our teammates. It may seem small, but this goes along way,” says Parrish.
The swimmers have also been working hard this season. “We have been focused on conditioning, refining techniques, and improving their endurance,” says captain, Ava Petros. Their goals for this season include improving their overall times, securing podium finishes at key meets, and strengthening their bond through teamwork and support.
