The music department at BBHHS is singing and serving their big fifth seasonal event, the Madrigal dinner. All choirs will showcase their talent this winter season at the Country Lakes Event Center. On Friday, December 13, families will enjoy the voices of Chamber, Treble, and Men’s Choirs. Then, on Saturday, December 14, families will see Chamber, Treble, and Symphonic Choirs delivering another unforgettable evening of music.
People should come hungry and prepare their appetites because dinner at the Madrigal Feast is no joke! The doors open at 5:30 p.m. giving people time to get their seats and grab a drink. Dinner kicks off promptly at 6:00 p.m., featuring a mouthwatering lineup: salad, bread, chicken piccata, pasta with red sauce, fluffy mashed potatoes, veggie medley, and, of course, the sweet finish—dessert! Come hungry and ready for a feast fit for royalty!
Madrigals were a festive dinner in the 16th century and were social gatherings with music, food, and dramatic performances. These events were popular during the Renaissance in Europe, especially in Italy and England, and were often held in noble or aristocratic households. These events celebrated the Renaissance’s artistic achievements and communal gathering’s joys. They also provided a venue for socializing and networking. Madrigal dinners would feature vocal ensembles performing madrigal complex, harmonically rich songs often accompanied by elaborate table settings and feasts. In addition to the music, the dinners might include plays, recitations, or dancing, making them multi-sensory entertainment.
This year the members of the choirs are very excited about this year’s performances. Senior, Chamber Choir member Noah Lewicki shares his royal aspirations. “The thing I’m most excited about is being king,” says Lewicki.
Joining Lewicki in the royal spotlight is his brother, Tyler Lewicki, who will also take on the role of king, alongside the beautiful queen, Senior, Mallorie Kostyack. Adding a playful twist to the evening, they are thrilled to introduce two brand-new Jesters to the dinner, ready to spread joy with their hilarious antics and jokes. Prepare for a night of regal charm and endless laughter.
