Back again this month the Hybreeze is looking at staff and students’ favorite musicians. This month’s edition features Math teacher, Sam Smith; senior, Ethan Moran; sophomore, Brian Ganley, and freshman, Brian Williams. The variety is interesting and wide.
To start, Math teacher, Sam Smith’s favorite musician of all time is Quinn92 because of his unique voice, which is highlighted in all of his songs, but he’s been listening to a lot more camp music recently because of the fall weather and spending more time outdoors.
He’s been listening to Quinn92 since 7th grade and has been listening to camp music for the past year, which his friends recommended.
His favorite line comes from another artist named, Sam Burchfield, in his song “The Last of the Honey Bees”.They harmonize, “I don’t wanna grow up, ‘cause someday I’m gonna be dead and gone”. He likes it, just because it’s a cool line. These artists make him feel happy and adventurous.
Senior, Ethan Moran’s musical artist of the month is a band named “Ok Buddy” because they have a Christmas show coming up.
Another contender on his list is Phish because they always do something unique every time they perform. The music makes him feel excited. He’s been listening to them since early junior year when his friend turned him onto it.
Sophomore Brian Ganley’s musical artists of the month are Zach Bryan and Noah Khan because of their music styles and word choices. His favorite song is “Sarah’s Place,” which both artists collaborated on.
One line that he likes says, “Don’t come back lover, I’m proud you’re under the skyline”. To him, this means, “If you truly love someone, you would want what’s best for them,” He found out about them through his sister’s playlist, which began to rub off on him over time.
Freshmen, Bryndan William’s musical artist of the month is Gunna because of the new album he’s dropped. He says “Everybody is listening to it.” His favorite song on the album is “Hakuna Matata”, which plays off of its meaning: No worries.
An artist giving Gunna a run for Willaims’ number one spot is Lil Baby He says, “[It] gets me hype for the game.” He’s been listening to both artists for 2-3 years and found out about them through friends.
