Artfest, created by the National Art Honors Society at BBHHS, showcases students’ artistic capabilities and the school’s variety of courses in the art department. With many types of displays and arts to explore within the fest, Artfest is an experience for everyone.
Immerse yourself in the creativity and culture of young students at the upcoming Artfest, taking place on March 15th from 4:30-7:30. It’s a celebration of the artists, their work and BBHHS’s art program. It displays all the love and care that the people have used to set up decorations and art to make it speak to everyone. It gives students a chance to present their work to anyone who comes, including their parents.
Artfest allows for student vendors to sell their own artwork and jewelry. In addition, attendees are encouraged to get Henna done on their hands, take pictures in the photobooths, create their own custom buttons, experience virtual reality, and take a spin at the pottery wheel.
Artfest has changed a lot since the initial idea in 2017. It has since combined with BBHHS’s Drama Club to incorporate live entertainment. They now do it before the spring musical.
Many of the participants of Artfest enjoy it and are very passionate about NAHS. The president of NAHS expresses, “I want parents, teachers, and students to see the beautiful stuff that the art program can make in this school and appreciate the students who spend so much time on their projects.”
She also states, “There is a lot of love and care put into the decorations and then hanging up the student’s artwork from the year. It’s a chance for parents to see what their student has done in our art classes, even if they aren’t super passionate or in NAHS.” The community of people involved in Artfest are all very kind and accepting, which adds comfort to the experience.
Looking ahead, students are already gearing up for next year’s editions of Artfest, promising even more exciting and thought-out events aiming to attract even more people.
Artfest encourages students to explore and take an interest in the different arts. It’s designed to interest even people who might only like art a little. It helps students find something that might become a hobby or class that they can take at the high school.
