It’s the most wonderful time of the year! The time of year when holiday music plays in every store. Snow falls from the sky on your way to school. Houses warm up with the smell of gingerbread and peppermint as a tree covered in bright lights shines through the frosted windows.
Many new activities to enjoy with friends and family come with a new season! Approximately 100 BBHHS students were surveyed on what they enjoyed doing with time off during this time of year.
Frost at Cleveland Botanical Garden
Enjoy the joy and twinkle of 216, special horticultural displays celebrating Cleveland’s historical and cultural landmarks, plus outdoor light displays and gingerbread houses. Also returning this year is Breakfast With Santa and the Krampus. One student at BBHHS says, “The decorations were really cool.”-Billy Henning. Hours are Thursday-Saturday, 10 a.m-9 p.m. Adult tickets are $26.
Cleveland Ballet presents “The Nutcracker” at Playhouse Square
The Nutcracker promises to dazzle audiences. Artistic director Gladisa Guadalupe has created a distinctly Cleveland version of the familiar story that has a twist, making it a must-see performance.”The best live performance I’ve ever seen. Me and my entire family would endlessly recommend this to anyone, especially with kids.” It is playing now through Dec. 23, both morning and evening times are still available. Tickets start at $40 and it is located at Connor Palace in Playhouse Square.
Cleveland Orchestra Holiday Concerts
Severance Music Center will again host the holiday sounds of the Cleveland Orchestra, with a variety of contemporary and traditional songs, and some special guests with festive instruments to light up the stage. Meghan McCafferty, who attended says, “Classic Christmas traditions make me feel nostalgic.” It runs through Dec. 23—and is located in Mandell Concert Hall. Tickets start at $49.
“A Christmas Carol” at Great Lakes Theater
Scrooge returns to Cleveland for Great Lakes Theater’s annual production of “A Christmas Carol”. People of all ages can get into the holiday spirit and experience the magic of the holiday season. “It was an eye-opening experience and fun.”-Eric Lin Tickets start at $30 and it runs until Dec. 31.
Santa’s House at Crocker Park
Santa’s House is located in the beautiful Crocker Park. Within Santa’s House you can hop onto Santa’s magical Sleigh, Shop at Christmas Towne Holiday Decor and Gifts, purchase gift cards or train tickets, and of course, see the one and only, and get photos with Santa Claus. “I enjoyed seeing the pretty decorations and visiting with my family. I would recommend it to someone else because it is a very beautiful site and a fun Christmas holiday activity to do.” -Ana Sunjevaric. Open through Dec. 24.
The fun does not stop there! There are so many fun holiday activities students at BBHHS enjoy doing with friends and family. Students were asked to pick their top three favorite activities.
There is so much to do! Students describe how these activities are a great way to spend time with those you love, relax, get in the spirit, and feel the warmth and happiness of childhood activities. With winter break coming up, the opportunities to get in the festive spirit are plenty.
