Few sports captivate the grace, strength, and precision such as girls gymnastics. The lady Bees defy gravity and show great talent with every twist and turn.
The next girls gymnastics competition is Thursday, December 7 at the high school gymnasium.
Maria Schneider, a teacher at the middle school and the coach of the team, has been described as one incredible leader! The team has won 20 consecutive state titles.
Schneider says her favorite part about coaching is “creating the memories with a new team each year. Every season has its own unique experience.”
When Schneider was younger, she also competed. She states, “I competed in club gymnastics through Level 8. I also competed for the BEES HS team my junior and senior year in HS – 1989-1991. I then was on the Kent State gymnastics team for my first two years.”
Lea Haverdill, a member of the girls gymnastics team says, “Gymnastics builds character by promoting discipline, perseverance, and mental resilience. It is a great way to develop physical skill!”
Haverdill and her fellow teammates are honored to have their skills and achieve remarkable levels of performance. This team’s consecutive success and legacy is a statement to the hard work of the coaches.
Some people think that gymnastics is dangerous. They also say it is very unlikely for people to get into the gymnastics olympics, but participating in any sport is not about becoming a professional or fame and glory. It is about coming together as a team and supporting each other no matter what.
The gymnastics team is not just a group of athletes; They are pride and determination. Their journey with this sport is a testament for heights that can be reached when coming together with people who love and support you. Behind them, they leave a legacy to inspire others.
