Dive into the realm of costume mystique as the anticipated trends for this year’s Halloween dreams and nightmares come to life. From classic monsters to trending pop culture icons, the costume crystal ball reveals a spooky and stylish future for one of the most thrilling nights of the year.
According to the United States Census Bureau, 73.1 million children, under the age of 18, went trick-or-treating during 2020. While it is enjoyable to go out and get free candy, one of the most important parts of trick-or-treating is dressing up in an amazing, spooky costume.
Multiple students at the high school are excited for Halloween and cannot wait for the night. Some are planning elaborate group-themes costumes to make this year’s Halloween celebration even more memorable.
Lilah Reasor, a junior, and Ryan Sobecks, a sophomore, are dressing up with a group for Halloween. Sobecks states, “our group is doing bikers and surfers from ‘Teen Beach Movie’, so I am going to be a surfer.”
Reasor follows up stating, “I am going to be a biker.” They are going to be “cruisin’ for a bruisin”.
Izabella Niemczyk, a freshman at the high school, states that she is going to be wearing a witch costume this year for Halloween, conjuring up a classic and bewitching look for the spooky holiday.
Kenny Whitten, a senior, says, “I’m going to be a Lifeguard for Halloween this year! I have to pass out candy as far as I’m aware, and I have a lot of things to do on Halloween, so I need something that is quick, easy, and simple!”
Similar to the students, teachers are also excited to dress up for Halloween and partake in the festive activities. Halloween is a great time for people to embrace their creativeness and their spooky spirit.
Emily Garlock, the choral teacher at the high school, says, “I love people who go all out. I like things that are funny and people who put effort in and go above and beyond.”
With all the Halloween fun, some people have plans to go multiple places, Garlock being one of them. “I’m extra, so we have two costumes for two different events. For one event, we are going as Barbie and Ken, and for the other one, we are going as Gomez and Morticia Addams.”
Ben Lesh, an English teacher at the high school, states, “I always love people that take cosplay ridiculously seriously and they look good. I respect the effort that goes into good cosplay.”
Jessica Harnist, a science teacher at the high school, states that Halloween is her favorite holiday and time of the year. She says that she always loves putting out decorations and celebrating the day with her kids.
The costume crystal ball has gathered important information about the predictions for this year. Students and teachers relay what they think most people will be wearing for Halloween this year.
Lesh says, “I figured that we would have a bunch of Wednesday Addams and several from the Eras of Taylor Swift. I don’t really see anything standing out for boys this year. The boys will probably be lame this year and dress up as soldiers.”
Reasor also believes that there will be multiple people who decide to dress up as one of the Eras in Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour. With the start of the Eras Tour beginning in March of this year, many fans of Taylor Swift are sure to be dressing up as one of her “Eras”.
Veronica Marita, a junior at the high school, thinks that there will be a lot of Barbies and Kens this year for Halloween. With the release of the new Barbie movie, many people’s costume choices are going to be influenced by all the amazing outfits in the movie.
Niemczyk expects that some students and children would dress up in inflatable costumes for Halloween this year. The whimsical sight of these inflatable costumes is sure to add an extra layer of fun to this year’s Halloween celebrations.
Sophia Hasman, a freshman, believes that many people won’t dress up for Halloween this year, but states that people may wear something country or sports themed. While traditional costumes might not be as prevalent this year, the idea of going country or sporting their favorite team’s gear could lead to a creative and spirited Halloween.
With all that being said, choosing a Halloween costume is a personal decision that reflects the person’s interests, creativeness, and an extra pinch of spooky spirit. These predictions give a taste of what we could see on Halloween night, but the most important thing is to have fun and enjoy the night’s festivities in your unique style. Happy haunting!
